********GIVING BACK TO YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY******

(Pictured above: 1st photo-me & Carmen, 2nd photo-Carmen & mentee)

My daughter and I strongly believe in giving back to our local community. One of our mottos is "Each One, Can Reach One."  We have decided to mentor together one young lady from junior high through college. This young lady happens to live in our community. It is absolutely amazing to see her grow and reach her educational goals. It doesn't take a lot of money, just the giving of a little time and sharing the knowledge that we have obtained. I want to encourage my classmates to do the same with a child in their local area. To take the time to give to others to help them succeed in life....

Note: I wanted to give a special shout out to Felicia Littleton White and to her daughter, Jessica for helping to give back to the community- to help other young people achieve their goals.

I am so proud of Jessica, she is actively involved in reaching out to other young people.

Congratulations to Steven Evans, son of classmate Tara Wilson Evans. Steven competed and placed first at the 2007 Nebraska Special Olympics Bowling Tournament! Steven actively participates in bowling, basketball, and track and field events. When asked about what he likes most about bowling? He replied, " I enjoy spending time with my friends." Way to go, Steven!!!

Commencement services will be at 9:00am at the Qwest Center. Carmen has been accepted to and will attend dental school at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. The graduation get together and send off party will be held following graduation on May 17th at St. John’s Catholic Church on Creighton’s Campus from 2pm to 5pm. Of course, our Bethel church family is cordially invited to attend. Carmen’s white coat ceremony is slated for August 22, 2009 in Louisville (date and time tba)

Carmen is a proud graduate of North High School. She received numerous service and leadership awards and scholarships to assist with her college education and dental school. She has done well academically and has worked hard to attain her dreams. She has maintained a high GPA to graduate debt free. She is so thankful and humbled to have received the support of many outstanding organizations, and specifically Bethel Missionary Baptist Church which has supported her over the years.

Carmen’s commitment to serve an impoverished community upon graduation from dental school is still one of her primary goals. She has not forgotten her pledge to serve those in need.

Congratulations Carmen on your success and may you have much more in the future!
